The purpose of the
Junior DevOps Support Engineer:
Our developers at Interfront release new code multiple times a day. We are looking for someone to join the DevOps team to help automate and support the tools and processes relating to continuous delivery/integration/deployment, test-driven development, and agile best-practices.
This role places a heavy emphasis on both maintaining and improving a complex continuous integration and release solution and providing support to a large team of developers and testers involved in our complex, multi-project, Java-based product suite and projects.
WAS installation, configuration and administration
Maintenance and optimization of software build & release process
Support the adoption of Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development, and Agile best practices, processes, and tools.
Scripting and automation of manual deployment and integration tasks
Support, maintenance and monitoring of DevOps related environments
Occasional after hours support
Research new tools, technologies and best practice
Pilot new technology implementations
Close collaboration with development, testing, system engineering and ICT resources
Keep abreast with the latest features and compatibilities of the IBM WAS product suit
Administration of the Atlassian product suit
Keep abreast with latest DevOps trends and technology
Hudson / Bamboo / Travis CI or similar
Maven / Ant / Make or similar
Sound understanding of Agile Methods
Jython / Groovy / Python
Configuration management tools
Exposure to cloud computing
Understanding of networking and security
Opsview or similar monitoring tools
Relevant IT Degree or Diploma
Prior experience in an enterprise IT or development environment
Experience in Linux based operating systems
Knowledge of DevOps processes and methodologies
Experience in scripting (BASH / KSH)
Understanding of revision control systems such as Git/SVN
Solid understanding and working knowledge of an orchestration tool like Jenkins
Familiar with container technology like Docker
Familiar with the workings of an application server like WebSphere
Familiar with the workings of relational databases like DB2
Self-starter and self-motivated
Flexible and good teamwork
Strong attention to detail

Any User who commits any of the offences detailed in section 85 to 88 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, No. 25 of 2002 (“the ECT Act”) shall, notwithstanding criminal prosecution, be liable for all resulting liability, loss or
damages suffered and / or incurred by Interfront.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Subject to the provisions of sections 43(5) and 43(6) of the ECT Act, if applicable, and as far as allowed by law, Interfront (including its shareholder, employees, suppliers, Internet service provider, partners, affiliates and agent(s) shall not be
liable for any damage, loss or liability of any nature incurred by whomever and resulting from:
Access to the Interfront website;
Access to websites linked to Interfront website;
Inability to access Interfront’s website;
Content available on the Interfront website;
Services available from the Interfront website;
Downloads and use of content on the Interfront website;
Any other reason.

Interception of communications
Subject to the Regulations of Interception of Communications (RIC) Act, No.70 of 2002, the User agrees to Interfront’s right to intercept, block, filter, read, delete, disclose and use all communications send or posted by the User to the
Interfront website, its staff and employees.
The User agrees and acknowledges that the consent provided by the User as set out above satisfies the “writing” requirement as detailed in the ECT Act and the RIC Act.
Entire agreement and severability
from the User.
Any failure by Interfront to exercise or enforce any right or provision shall in no way constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
remaining terms and conditions shall remain enforceable and applicable.
Agreement in terms of part 2 (Communication of data messages) of the ECT Act
The User and Interfront agree that:
every time after that. Data messages addressed by the User to Interfront shall only be deemed to have been received if and when responded to and /or receipt is acknowledged.
Data messages addressed to the User by Interfront shall be deemed to be received by the User as detailed in section 23(b) of the ECT Act.
Data messages addressed by the User to Interfront shall be deemed to have been created and send by the User from within the geographical boundaries of South Africa
All electronic communications between the User and Interfront is valid and binding regardless of whether security mechanisms are applied or not(e.g. electronic signature and encryption.)
The User agrees and warrants that Data messages that are sent to Interfront from a computer, IP address or mobile device normally used by or owned by the User, was sent and/or authorised by the User personally. Applicable and governing law
The Interfront website is hosted, controlled and operated from the Republic of South Africa therefore the South African law enforced by the South African courts governs the use or inability to use the Interfront website, its content, services and
these terms and conditions.
